The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen welcomes the decision of the United Nations to transfer the official headquarters of the Resident Coordinator in Yemen from Sana’a to the temporary capital, Aden.

The Ministry encourages all United Nations agencies, funds, and programs to take the same step and move their offices to the temporary capital.

The Ministry affirms its full commitment to work with United Nations agencies, funds, and programs to ensure the continued delivery of humanitarian assistance to all Yemenis in need across the Republic.

The Ministry will continue its cooperation with the United Nations to guarantee the safety of its staff and employees, as well as all humanitarian workers in all areas under the control of the legitimate government. This is to provide them with privileges and immunities in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

The Ministry reiterates its condemnation of the continued detention of dozens of United Nations employees and humanitarian workers by the Houthi militias in Sana’a and the areas under their control, in flagrant and unjustified violation of international law.

The Ministry stresses that this decision constitutes an important step that will enhance coordination with the United Nations and strengthen humanitarian, relief, and development efforts throughout Yemen.

The Ministry renews its call for strengthening cooperation between the Yemeni government and all United Nations agencies in the fields of relief and development.
