Yemeni Government plans to deal with cyclone Kyarr
Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik followed up on Wednesday on the operational preparatory plans for cyclone Kyarr, which is expected to hit the Yemeni coasts on the Arabian Sea, namely the governorates of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout and Mahra early next week. He did the follow-up in phone conversations with the governors of Aden, Lahj, Shabwa, and Hadramout and with the Secretary General of the Local Council of Mahra. The Prime Minister directed the governors to vitalize emergency rooms around the clock and warn citizens to take caution and abide by safety instructions. He stressing the imperative of the role of the competent ministries and security services in supporting the efforts of local authorities in these provinces to counter the impact of the cyclone. The local authorities of Yemen's southern province of Lahj have formed a panel to handle emergency cushioning measures ahead of the cyclone Kyarr expected to hit Yemen's coasts in a few days. A meeting of senior Lahj officials including the governor Ahmed Turki assigned the committee to prepare rescue crews and vehicles in case of any losses the cyclone may incur.
