Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Yamani held a meeting with ambassadors of the G-18 countries, in charge of overseeing of the political process of Yemen. During the meeting, the minister briefed the ambassadors' on the outcomes of the recent round of talks in Stockholm and the agreements reached during these talks, most importantly the withdrawal from the ports of Hodeidah, Salif and Ras Issa and redeployment of forces from the city and province of Hodeidah, emphasizing on the role the United Nations play in this agreement. He also referred to the detainees agreement and the lack of progress on this file.

The Foreign Minister affirmed the support of the Yemeni government for the efforts of the United Nations and its Special Envoy to continue the peace process in Yemen, stressing the need to implement the Stockholm agreements within a clear and stated time frame before proceeding to hold a new round of consultations. The government's decision on the upcoming consultations will be based on achieving concrete steps to implement the Hodeidah agreement on the ground. He called for clarifying the mechanisms of the United Nations in implementing the agreement officially to the Yemeni government for consideration. Al-Yamani stressed on the government's commitment to continue supporting the Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths. He praised the efforts made by him during the peace talks in Sweden and the outcomes of the Stockholm agreement. Al Yamani pointed out that the government is open and willing to participate actively, following the implementation of the Sweden agreement in full. Any coming consultations should have clear objectives, mechanisms and framework with a clear time frame to be able to monitor progress. He also explained that the continuous Houthi violations of the cease-fire agreement in Hodaidah is threatening the Stockholm agreement as a whole. Al-Yamani stressed that the Stockholm agreement is clear, especially with assertion that the responsibility of security in ports and the city of Hodeidah lies with the local security forces in accordance with Yemeni law and needs to respect the legal tracks of the legitimate Authority. The UN only recognize the government led by President Abdurbo Mansoor Hadi, and it is the government which is responsible for local forces, local authorities and Yemeni state institutions.
