Yemen welcomes the report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the implementation of resolution 2231 (2015)

December 14, 2017

Adan Sabanet:

The Government of the Republic of Yemen welcomed the fourth report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of resolution 2231 (2015), which refers to Iran's flagrant and hostile interference in the internal affairs of our country and Iran's clear support for the Houthi terrorist militias with advanced and dangerous missile capabilities that threaten the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen, .

The Republic of Yemen also welcomes the American position announced by the United States Ambassador to the United Nations in Washington on Thursday, December 14, 2017, condemning Iran's hostile activities in supporting and arming terrorist groups, including the Houthi terrorist organizations in our country.

As well as the statement issued today by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard.
"The support provided by the Iranian regime to the Houthi militias in our country has become worthy not only of condemnation but of accountability towards the practices of these terrorist militias since their coup against the legitimate authority in our country and its destruction of the bridge of transit to the state project in accordance with the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement today. In which everyone participated and witnessed by the international community, which was dreamed by every Yemeni citizen.

"These militias have suppressed all those who stand in the way of their project, which serves the expansionist Iranian project in the region, destroyed state institutions, looted the capabilities of the Yemeni people, including humanitarian aid, seized state resources and oil imports to support and fund their hostile project. And the threat of security and safety of sea lanes, attacking the territory of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and launching ballistic missiles on populated cities in Yemen and the Kingdom, all with the support of Iran in flagrant violation of Security Council resolutions 2216 (2015) and 2231 (2015) ) And Other irresponsible practices that have caused the failure of political consultations and the prolongation of the political and humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

The Yemeni government demanded that the international community immediately take immediate action to implement all Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2216, and to hold the Iranian regime and the Huthi militias accountable for their hostile actions against the Yemeni people and the peoples of the Arab region. And stresses the need to prevent the continued smuggling of arms by these militias.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the government's support for all efforts exerted by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General to Yemen, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, aimed at finding a political solution in accordance with the three agreed terms of reference and facilitating all relief and humanitarian operations aimed at alleviating the suffering of our Yemeni people.
